Twitter Follower Obsessions

B01I0037 Do you want to increase your followers?  Or are you as sick as I am of the various products that will help you increase your follower count?

I’ve been on Twitter now for several months and the one thing I’ve noticed is the obsession with having the greatest number of followers.

This is most obvious in the number of automated direct messages I receive that are essentially selling yet another product that will either automate the follow/un-follow process for you, telling you where the free tools are that will do this for you, or linking to services that are essentially pyramid schemes.  All playing on the etiquette of always following someone who is following you.

Twitter From ASP.NET – Friends vs Followers

F03I0051 If you want to emulate the services of something like Twitter Karma you are going to need to learn how to retrieve your list of friends and followers.

What makes this especially difficult is that the documentation for this on both the Twitterizer site (where it is practically non-existent) and on the Twitter site (where it is not exactly accurate) makes figuring out this process particularly difficult.

Twitter from ASP.NET – Simple GUI

trav-037 Yesterday I posted a short description of how to get Twitterizer installed in a web app.  We left off making sure that the DLL was installed correctly but that’s about as far as we got.
