MVC – Let’s Install it.

Unless you only read my blog, you probably already know that MVC 1.0 released yesterday. So it’s time to install it into visual studio.
Now, you are supposed to be able to install it using the Microsoft Web Platform Installer, but when I try that, the only option I have is to install RC2, which isn’t what we want, so let’s head on over to the Microsoft download location and install it from there:

More on SilverLight Developer Installation
If you followed along with the install instructions last week and then went to do some development, you probably noticed that the Visual Studio environment does not allow for WYSIWYG/Drag and Drop GUI development like we can do with Windows Forms or ASP.NET development.
Insert rant for how lame this is here…
But all is not lost. While the tools are not available in Visual Studio, they ARE available in Expression Blend 2. So, our next step in the installation process is to install Expression Blend 2.

Installing Silverlight2 Tools for Visual Studio
I was talking with a friend of mine a couple of days ago about the future of web development and XAML specifically when he made the comment about the tools not being available for the average developer.
I said that I was pretty sure the tools were available now for Visual Studio. This morning, I went looking and sure enough the tools are available so I thought I’d download them and install them. And while I’m at it, I’ll write about the experience.
